How to Word Wedding Invitations with Divorced Parents

Divorced parents wording wedding invitations will be your choice when you will write your wedding invitations with still include the name of their respective parents, both of which are divorced parents of the bride or groom's parents.

Here are some steps you can take to make divorced parents wording wedding invitations to make your wedding impressive and memorable.

  • The first step you should take is to include the name of the stepfather of the bride or groom. It is a polite attitude to include their names even they are not your birth fathers. For example, "Mr. and Mrs. James Brooke [bride's mother and step-father] and Mr. David Downs [bride's father] request the honor of your presence...," or "Mr. and Mrs. Jack Smith request the honor of your presence at the marriage of their daughter, Anne Smith to Brad Homes, son of Ms. Barbara Jenkins [groom's mother] and Mr. and Mrs. James Homes [groom's father and step-mother]."
  • Don’t forget to include both parents' names on the wedding invitation. You should include parents who divorced and didn't remarry. For example you can say "Mr. Darren Doyle and Ms. Pretty Patterson request the honor of your presence at the marriage of their daughter..."
  • If you want to remember your deceased parents, you can include them on your invitations. Some couples choose not to include their deceased parent's name entirely.
  • If you plan to include your deceased parent's name on the invitation, just make sure that it doesn't sound like your deceased parent who become the host of your wedding.
