Choosing Proper Wedding Invitation Text Etiquette

Choosing the right wording for a wedding invitation is very essential. Some people may think that the invitation is merely information about who will get married, the date, time and location of marriage. This assumption is not entirely wrong because the wedding invitation it contains information about such matters. Simply providing the information without regarding to the feasibility of words used can lead to misunderstanding about the intended meaning by the inviter and that one of the recipient of the invitation. Therefore it is important to consider wedding invitation wording etiquette.

Wedding invitation wording etiquette should be applied when you intent to word your wedding invitation. Wedding invitation should be able to give a brief but complete overview of your wedding ceremony so that no misunderstanding about the invitation itself. Choosing the right words sometimes confusing, so if you feel unable to do it yourself, you should enlist the help of friends or family so you are sure that you have done things right. If necessary you can ask for an expert or hire a professional in his field.

Here some things you should take into your consideration when applying wedding invitation wording etiquette to your invitation. Think about the best thing and apply only the best for best result you can get.

  • Hosts
Remember that your wedding invitation text should begin with the hosts' names. Use full names by including the use of proper title if necessary. If the host is the bride's parents, the first line should be : "Mr. and Mrs. Robert Badelle request the honour of your presence."
  • Couple's Names
It is also important to include the full names of couple on the wedding invitation. In the case the bride uses her parents names, just take only her first and middle name and incorporated with the groom's full name. For example, "at the marriage of their daughter, Juliet Green, to Mr. Jhon Smith Andrews."
  • Time, Date and Location
It is proper for your formal wedding invitations to use spelled-out numbers for date and time instead of using numerals. You can use “Saturday, the twentieth of November, two-thousand-ten  instead of November 20, 2010.
  • Response Cards
Your response cards should begin with a capital "M" and followed by a blank. A blank is used to  write the names of quests beginning with the title, "Mr. and Mrs. Paul Roberts."
  • Particular Family Situations

Do not forget to include particular family situation for your wedding especially that relate to second marriages, divorces,  or shared costs of the wedding.
